Privacy policy

Last updated 13 October 2026

Draft: this page hasn't been reviewed by a legal adviser yet.

This policy explains what personal information RoofPitch keeps and why. Big Solar Co-op is responsible for it.

What we keep

  • Your account: your email address, your name if you give it, the organisation you belong to and your role in it, and when your account was made. Your password is stored only as a secure hash, never as text.
  • In your browser: a sign-in token, so you stay signed in, and whether you chose the light or dark theme. Both are kept in your browser's local storage, not in cookies. Signing out removes the token, and clearing your browser's site data removes both.

We don't keep the addresses you search for or the sites you assess with your account. Our server's logs record each request, including your IP address and the map location you assessed, to keep RoofPitch running and secure, and are deleted after [retention period]. Proposals you download are made in your browser and saved only where you save them.

Google

RoofPitch uses Google Maps Platform for its maps, address search and solar data. The addresses you search for, and the locations you assess, are sent to Google to do this, along with technical information such as your IP address. Google's use of them is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

Emails

We email you when your account is made and when you ask to reset your password, and for nothing else.

How long we keep it

We keep your account until it's removed by you, your organisation's manager or Big Solar Co-op. Removing it deletes your details.

Your rights

You can see and change your details on your account page, and ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
